Gros Morne National Park Area
Glacier scoured bedrock terrain, Long Range Mountains, Newfoundland.
This aerial view of the interior of Gros Morne National Park shows how two main cycles of erosion have etched out the lines of weakness (faults and fractures) in the granite bedrock. First, deep weathering in preglacial time decomposed the rock along the fractures; then glaciers scooped out the soft material, leaving a network of basins and criss-crossing linear depressions.
